Hey just wondering if anybody here lives in Mayo. Im in Castlebar and theres only 3 (2 really) of us that skates and its pretty boring not havin more people to skate with. we heard that there are some people in ballina that skate and westport also but we dont know. so if you or somebody u know skates in mayo, giv us a shout
yeah theres a good few spots i suppose, not bad for a small town lik, i'll post up some pics of the towns finest for ye tomoro:) deffo a shit towns tour, anythign that'll get some skating goin on ere!
OT- has anybody ever had experience with putting angle iron on public ledges, we wanna do it on one the ledges in town, but dunno wheter to go ahead with it or not. we wanna do it cause the ledges are good as in perfect height etc, and you can do slides on it, but not a chance of ne grinds, even with a serious amount of wax on it it'll still stick..just wondering if anybody has done it and gotten in trouble with the law etc..
these are the ledges im talkin bout:
wer only gonna do one ledge, (this is our main spot in town i suppose when its dry)
cool ledges, get some no more nails in a tub and run a smal line down both sides of the angle iron, press it against the ledge and hold it, or sit on it for ten mins and then leave to set for a bit, sorted... i have two 6 foot pieces here if thats the length of them? Looks like a good wee spot to hit..
measured it today, 7 ft exactly. yeah i saw that no more nails stuff in homebase today, with that and the angle iron, its costing bout €25, it'll be worth it though!
Grip fill is cheaper than no more nails and more hardcore. For best results wait until the ledges are good and dry. Do it at night and leave a few breeze blocks on top of the angle iron, then go and take them away a soon as ye can in the morning.Let it settle for another day, then shred. Try not and do the ledge most obvious to passer bys and it shouldnt get noticed, if it does the council dudes usually think they did for some reason or other, but if they cop they will just ususally remove it with no big drama.
Right wer gona does this on friday night hopefully, pretty late lik. let it sit for the night and next day and shred it on sunday :)
one thing as well, the only angle iron i can find in town, is actually aluminuim, will that stil be alright? it seems like it'll do the job. And also its only 25mm wide on either side, so its small enough, but i think it'll suffice ok, i hope..
hey roguey , im up around castlebar and westport every few months theres a few good spots, never skaters though , i think i saw yous in athlone in august or something last year? coulda been yous
Let Us know how your getting on, i have a portable polejam, two wedge kickers, round grind bar, lights and genny rocking and could do an eve session down yer way when shes dry
toying with a mini moto idea for towing or just general messing about too haha
i dont really no to be honest, havent been to Ballina in about 3 years and i never skated it. Ya might as well, its a pretty big town im sure there'll be something
put the metal on on friday, skated for the firsdt time today, pretty good, could do with being a bit wider but is still alot better than it was cause its now grindable, heres some pics:

and if ya look through my album i put some of the spots around town up in there:
We were just skating at Market Square there when a guy walking past stops and tells us about his brother who has started a petition to get a skatepark here in Castlebar! I dont know who is is, as i thought that there isnt any other skaters in Castlebar apart from the 3 of us, so i dont know who the fella that started it is, but theres an online petition set up, so i was wondering if anybody on Boggin could sign it as well? the more people the better as this would be so good to get for us!
